Macbook air wouldn't get passed the blank screen

Macbook air wouldn't get passed the apple logo on startup, now it won't reboot pass a blank screen.

It started with the system saying saying I didn't have permission to files that I created, so I did a reboot, (it was difficult to get the system to shut cause some apps wouldn't close). Once I got the system to shut down, I tried to reboot it and it wouldn't go passed the apple logo screen, tried several time and even tried rebooting to safe mode and it would return to the logo screen and hang there.

So now I'm think something (app) is hanging the computer and is keep alive by the battery so I let the battery die and then recharge the battery. I assume the battery is taking a charge because the led on the magnet charging cord is changing from orange to green, and still the blank screen, the keyboard doesn't even light up.

I bought the machine in 2018, Jan so I believe it is a 2017 model or date of manufacture.

Thanks you in advance

Please read and follow these instructions: If your Mac doesn't start up all the way - Apple Support.

From what you describe, "Learn what to do if your Mac starts up to an Apple logo or progress bar" describes the steps you need to take next. Specifically, "If your Mac is stuck on this screen or keeps restarting."

Thanks John after receiving your email and read the link If your Mac doesn't start up all the way - Apple Support., I kept following the symptoms of my problem (blank screen, machine won't startup) and ended up that "Reset the SMC (Intel-based Mac only)", resetting the SMC got my Mac to power up and I was able to get into recovery mode, then I check the HD with first aid and it reported that the HD was good, then tried to recover my information using time machine, with no luck (my time machine is on the home network and my Mac couldn't get on to the network) so I tried to reinstall the operating system, it downloaded and install Monterey ok but froze again when it rebooted at the apple logo, finally I reformatted the HD reinstall Monterey, and then uploaded my information from time machine.

All seems to be working fine and I hope this helps someone in the future that has the same problem

Thanks again
