McAfee remnants
How do I get rid of a remnant of McAfee that still resides on my mac. The program has been removed but the Icon still sits in the top tray and it pops up every now and then with a do not leave message.

It's possible, you'll need to reinstall McAfee and then use the McAfee uninstaller to remove it properly.

If you want to uninstall your McAfee software, expand the section below and follow the steps.
Uninstall your McAfee software
- To make sure that related browser plug-ins are removed correctly, close your browsers (Safari and Chrome) before starting the removal.
- In the Dock, find and open the Applications folder.
- Double-click the McAfee Internet Security Uninstaller. NOTE: The name of the uninstaller might vary slightly, depending on the McAfee software you’ve installed.
- Click Continue.
- Type your administrator password and click OK.
- Click Finish.
If you run into issues, reinstall your McAfee software. Here's how:
- In the Finder menu bar, click Go.
- Select Go to Folder from the drop-down list.
- Type /usr/local/ into the Go to the folder field, and click Go.
- Look for the McAfee folder, and drag this folder into the trash.
- Open the Go to Folder dialog again, and type /Library/ApplicationSupport/ into the field.
- Click Go, and look for the McAfee folder. Drag the McAfee folder into the trash.
- Open the Go to Folder dialog again, and type /Library/LaunchDaemons/ into the field.
- Click Go, and look for the com.mcafee.cspd.plist file. Drag this file into the trash.
After you complete these steps, resume the product install.
