Cloud icon for items in Trash

Finder is showing the cloud icon for many of the files in my Trash. There items were never stored in iCloud. Looking at iCloud, there is no indication of these files currently.

What is this icon telling me?

Thanks. I think I'm not being very clear about what I'm asking.

I'm looking at the contents of the Trash of my Macbook using the Finder. Some of the items in there have a cloud icon. These items have never been stored in iCloud, or any cloud service.

The items are viewable and behave like any items in the Trash.

Can anyone explain what this icon means when associated with items in the Trash?

What appears to be, is an important piece of missing information in the description provided.

That being, when Logged into www.icloud.com & looking at the iCloud Drive itself there Is a " Recently Deleted " as evidenced in below image.

How the item(s) were placed on iCloud Drive - only the user would know that.

The small cloud type icon beside a file indicates the file is on iCloud but has not yet downloaded as a Local Copy of same said file.

Definition of Local = On the Internal Drive of the computer
