iCloud keeps dropping offline while working

Hi,

I notice that, when working in a shared iCloud doc, iCloud repeatedly drops offline and is not reconnecting.

First: I would like to know what can cause this problem. If an unstable wifi connection would be the cause why is it not reconnecting again?

Secondly: if that happens how do I save the changes I made for the document? Now I often get the message that changes were not saved and it asks me to save a copy. This gets really confusing with different copies of documents in folders. So how to approach this best?

Thanks!

Karin

Hey Clash69,

To help troubleshoot, test after checking for an update to macOS, as software updates can help clear up unexpected behavior: Update macOS on Mac - Apple Support

"Use Software Update

Before installing new software, it's a good idea to back up your Mac.

  1. From the Apple menu  in the corner of your screen:
    • Choose System Settings. Then click General in the sidebar, and Software Update on the right.
    • Or choose System Preferences. Then click Software Update.

2.If Software Update finds new software, click the Update Now or Upgrade Now button to install it"

Reach out to Apple Support directly to help investigate the behavior if the issue persists. You can use the following link to reach out: Contact - Official Apple Support

Kind regards.

Hello. This is a bigger issue. I share keynotes a group of people and this has been going on since a recent set of updates to iCloud several weeks ago. (Since "Latest Activity" functionality was added).

We've all done the following:

  • Fully updated MacOS + iWork
  • Completely removed iCloud, restarted the computer, and signed back into iCloud (repeatedly)

The issue persists. It looks like "Sync Status" is hanging for some reason. It can be left for hours and never move beyond waiting to sync. Also this is all on high-speed internet connections above 150 MBS.

  • All computers involved are laptops running M1 and M1 Pro chips.
  • 1/2 running up-to-date version of of keynote on MacOS 12 with the others on 13

I love Keynote but if I cannot get this working, I'll be forced to move my team over to Office365 (which I would hate).
