iCloud sync unreliable since May/June 2023

iCloud is increasingly not syncing, or taking an extraordinarily long time to sync. For instance, 4 pdf files, each less than 1MB in size, taking over 2 hours to sync. Wifi speed is capable of movie streaming. OS updated. Rebooted. A problem of increasing frequency and magnitude.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 13.5

Hello 123abc789,

If iCloud isn't syncing we recommend seeing if the issue continues in safe mode. Safe mode can help you identify whether issues you’re experiencing are caused by software that loads as your Mac starts up. Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support

If the issue doesn't continue while in safe mode, reboot your Mac normally and remove unwanted software and login items from your Mac. Uninstall apps on your Mac - Apple Support & Remove login items to resolve startup problems on your Mac

Thanks.
