"Actual Size" video in QuickTime Player on Ventura

Hi,

I upgraded to macOS Ventura. I used ⌘ + [+] and [-] keys to zoom videos in QuickTime Player before to get them to the actual size.

I have UHD (3840x2160) displays that run at HiDPI (2x retina). When I play a 1080p video I sometimes want to be able to show it in a window in the correct pixel-size so it's 1080 pixels in height on my screen.

It used to be possible to use the above key combinations until in the ⌘ + I info view the current size was equal to the actual size.

However, In Ventura, this doesn't work anymore. Pressing ⌘ + [+] actually zooms in the video inside the window and the "current size" is the size of the window, not the content.

So how to I get to show the actual video size now? Pressing ⌘ + [0] (which according to the menu is supposed to choose "actual size" is also broken now because it'll just zoom out the video all the way which isn't what "actual size" used to do.

My QuickTime Player version is 10.5 (1148.4.1) on macOS 13.0.1

Hi AriRomano,

The ⌘ + [+] and [-] key equivalents for increasing and decreasing the window size are now ⌘ + ] and ⌘ + [, respectively. (These options moved from the View menu to the Window menu).

It sounds like something may have regressed with the Actual Size option. You can file a bug report here: <Feedback - QuickTime - Apple>.

Thanks.

Thanks for letting us know that AriRomano,

Next, see if the issue continues in safe mode, following . Safe mode will do a couple of things for us that will help isolate and potentially resolve the issue. First, during boot it runs as can of your disk and makes repairs where it can. This step on its own often resolves a variety of issues. Once booted, safe mode also disables certain processes that might be causing a conflict.
