Cant select clips in Viewer in retina screens

Cant select clips in Viewer in retina screens

When the FC Viewer is in a retina screen, I cant select the clips in the Viewer with the Transform Tool, a yellow cross draws in the middle of the screen or the selected clip flashes, unless both clips are way enough far form each other.

It works OK in non retina screens.

This happens to me since some versions ago either in Mojave/MBP and Catalina or Ventura/MacStudio(I dont know from when this bug happens as I used FC always in non retina screens due to performance)

I'm forced to use FC in low res mode since ever because of this and I'm wondering if it is some settings I would need to check.

That's interesting. I never knew you could just select a different clip directly in the Viewer like this - maybe because I always edit using my retina display...

I just tried i using a 1080 display, and I see exactly the same thing that you do.

FWIW, this capability of selecting a clip directly in the Viewer is not mentioned anywhere in the documentation, as far as I can tell.

I already filled a bug report for Apple, seeing how long it takes to fix something like this, as my workflow invoves working with multiple clips in PIP, I'm afraid I will never could work in with Final Cut in a retina display 😫

I used to use Easyres to switch between retina (2x) and normal resolution, but now I'm opening FC in low res as default, always.

Hi Tom, this happens with any project, any settings, any MacOS and any Mac, only different things is a HiDpi resolution or regular resolution.

I can't tell if any past Final Cut version worked as is should. But since I'm using it, it doesnt. it feels like a bug they never fixed in the retina display side

I see, then I hope they dont remove it from the non retina screens as is a feature estremmly useful to me.

What I dont understand is why I can select the clips even in retina when I clic far double the clip's size.

All this, somehow, makes this odd bug as a positive one.

Mmmm, I see, even though is not mentioned anywhere in the documentation, in retina display the behaviour is odd and erratic and in no retina looks intuitive and natural. So there is something weird here.

I work a lot with PIP and several clips and this feature is a life saver, my workflow would take twice to complete if I couldnt select clips in the viewer (that's why I'm forced to open FC in low resolution mode)

I work with FC from a few years from Premiere, and it has a lot of advantages to my workflow and really love it's features. The speed, the performance, learning curve... Though there are some caveats as this one or as many others (ahem!...)
