Can I move existing Apple TV to another home without factory resetting it?

I have an Apple TV HD and use it as my HomeKit hub for years. I am planning to buy the new Apple TV 4K Ethernet, in order to replace it. Then I want to use the old Apple TV in order to create a new HomeKit hub for another home (at another location), but I don't want to factory reset and set it up again at the second home. Is there a way to just move/reassign it between the two Homes (under the same Apple ID) without factory reset?

1) Just sign out the old ATV while it is in the current (first) home, then

2) Set up the new ATV as the hub of the current (first) home, then

3) Sign in the old ATV while it is in the second home and set it as a hub for it? Or, if I sign in without reset and new setup, it will appear again belonging to the first home hub?


Is the above procedure correct, or is it anything wrong/missing?

I don’t have a second home to test it with, but that is indeed how I understand that it should be working.

Set up your HomePod, HomePod mini, Apple TV, or iPad as a home hub - Apple Support

You can configure it in the Home app, or possibly even in Settings﹥AirPlay and HomeKit on Apple TV.

I would first add a second home in the Home app. Then change the location properties for one of the hubs.
