New Homekit Automations Will Not Trigger

I have a number of automations running just fine on HomeKit (Apple TV HD as the Hub), but this weekend, I tried to add a new automation and noticed that it won't work. It seems like while my existing automations are working, no new automations would trigger. I can set it up, it tests fine, but it never actually triggers for real. I tried some really simple ones like when this light turns on, turn that light on too, and it still doesn't work.

My Apple TV is on TVOS 16.1 (must have recently auto updated), my phone was on 15 something, and I just updated it to 16.1.1 but the problem is still the same.

Any one have the same issue or a solution?

Thank you for posting to the Apple Support Communities.

From what we gather, you have already followed this Apple Support article when creating these new automations in the Home app: Create scenes and automations with the Home app

If you are noticing that certain accessories do not respond as expected to automations, please confirm that the accessories are compatible: Home app - Accessories

It is also suggested that you update all Apple devices linked with your iCloud account. This is especially important for your Home Hub (Apple TV): Update your Apple TV - Apple Support

You can also try restarting your iPhone and Home accessories. It may also help to restart your network hardware (router and modem).

Finally, please ensure that your iPhone has the correct date and time displayed. Open Settings > General > Date & Time and enable Set Automatically to ensure this.

Whatever happened, the issue resolved itself when I rebooted my Apple TV, which functions as my home hub.

I also noticed that if you activate the triggering device from Home App, then the automations happen right away. If your use the physical switch to activate the triggering device, then it can take some time before Home Kit knows that the status has changed to trigger the automation.

Old and new automations now work after Apple TV (home hub) reboot.
