CardDAV error

"Password Incorrect" Enter the password for the CardDAV account "Google Contacts". I cannot find an accurate answer that works from either Apple or Google. When I try my Google password it says is incorrect, and if I try to delete the account it tells me I will loose my contacts. How do I get rid of the annoying prompt, but sync my contacts to my Google account?

"CardDAV account verification failed" error on iPhone after iOS 18.4 update iOS 18.4 appears to have ended CardDav support. Since upgrading to 18.4 my iPhone no longer shows contact names in Messages and "Google CardDav Accounts" in Settings shows "Contacts Account CardDav account verification failed OK". Alternatively on the "Contacts Accounts" page a pop up box shows "Password Incorrect Enter the password for the CardDav account 'Google CardDav Contacts". The password entered is correct. Consequently Messages are beginning to show phone numbers instead of names. 'Recents' in the phone app shows only phone numbers with small fonts beneath saying "Maybe: [Name of caller in Contacts]. 'Contacts' in the phone app shows 'No Contacts'. Will Apple be fixing this or is CardDav permanently removed as a feature? [Re-Titled by Moderator]
