IPad keeps freezing

It is very strange and happens mainly in the Safari browser but in other apps as well.

opening a page in Safari, starting to scroll, until scrolling just stops. From then onwards nothing works anymore. The whole screen just freezes. Sometimes I can still close the app and start it again, sometimes only a restart of the iPad works.

I am not sure if this is Hardware (new iPad Pro M2) or Software (just updated to 16.1.1) related.

Restarting your iPad is a great first step. Thanks for trying that. Having your iPadOS fully updated can help too. Since the issue persists after taking those steps, try clearing the iPad Safari browser which may help: Clear the history and cookies from Safari on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support.


Follow this guidance:

    • "To clear your history and cookies, go to Settings > Safari, and tap Clear History and Website Data. Clearing your history, cookies, and browsing data from Safari won't change your AutoFill information.
    • To clear your cookies and keep your history, go to Settings > Safari > Advanced > Website Data, then tap Remove All Website Data."
