Deleting folders from external device

Hi,

from update to macOS Ventura (13.0.1) I have a problem with deleting folders from external device (SD cards, HDDs, ...). I can delete it to Trash, but when I want to empty Trash, it show me, that "folder is in use" - but nowhere is used. If I want to delete files, I have to delete them one by one (sometimes 10 by 10 :D).

Manytimes I restarted laptop, I tried to find folders and empty Trahs threw Terminal, but nothing happened.

Please, have you ever seen that before?

Thank you

Lukas

Hello lucaskozel,

It sounds like you aren't able to properly remove folders from external storage devices on your computer since upgrading to Ventura, right? If you haven't already, try to reset the NVRAM on your computer with the steps listed here:

Reset NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

"If you have an Intel-based Mac

If you're not using a Mac with Apple silicon, you're using an Intel-based Mac.

How to reset NVRAM

Option keyplusCommand keyplusP keyplusR key

  1. Shut down your Mac.
  2. Turn on your Mac, then immediately press and hold these four keys together: Option, Command, P, R.
  3. Release the keys after about 20 seconds, during which your Mac might appear to restart. For example, you might hear a startup sound more than once, or see the Apple logo more than once.
  4. When your Mac finishes starting up, you might need to adjust any system settings that were reset."

If you continue to see the behavior after, contact Apple Support.

Regards.
