Apple Lossless playback audio skips

When engaging Apple Lossless audio on Apple Music on my iMac, the music will almost always suffer a micro "skip" within 30 seconds of a track playing back. This upsets the tempo of the music and is unacceptable. It ruins the enjoyment of your music. Turning off Apple Lossless and going back to AAC fixes this. Why can't Apple fix this? It's as though the Apple Music playback software cannot switch cleanly between different profile levels of the playback streams.
