My Music app in macOS has a bug in the Equalizer during playback

Is anyone else experiencing this? When I play an album in Music (macOS), the first track is usually muted or has a "flat" playback and ignores my playback preset. Backstory: a couple months ago I opened the Equalizer to build a custom sound preset for my Bose bookshelf speakers as well as a preset for my Sony over-the-ear headphones. Now I've noticed lately that the setting(s) get ignored unless I pop open the Equalizer window and manually change it from a built-in preset to my custom preset. Then the sound changes from flat to my custom preset. I can tell because flat usually offers a very bland, midrange sound output. But when my "Bose" preset kicks in, there's a very noticeable, broader dynamic range to my music. Any thoughts?

Hi coolvalentine,

A great first step when encountering unexpected behaviors on your Mac is to test the concern in safe mode. How to use safe mode on your Mac provides the process for starting your Mac into safe mode, as well as follow-up steps to use depending on the results of that test. This combination can help to isolate potential causes for the behavior or remedy it completely.

Regards.
