WhatsApp stuck on “Connecting”

Hey,

Recently, I bought a brand new iPhone 14 Pro Max after years of using an Android device.

Since the transferring of all the data I have troubles mainly with Whatsapp.

First, every time I open the app, it is showing "connecting" and just after a few very long seconds, all the messages show up. even if only one message is waiting for me and I haven't closed the app. At the same time, the notifications from WhatsApp are updating normally.

Second, every time I send a message, the typing is very slow and sometimes stuck, and after I tap the "send" button, it’s stuck for a few seconds until it jumps to the chat and sends.

I'm also experiencing connection problems with the weather (it is not showing any data for a few seconds, both in the app and the widgets) and other apps that usually work good.

I checked a lot of times all kind of settings (for example "Background App Refresh"). I deleted apps and especially WhatsApp at least 10 times. I contacted them without getting any working solutions. My friends have the same phone and have no problems with it. I tried all the solutions that I could find on the internet. I even made a factory reset as my last choice.

I'm having this problems everywhere. At home and at work. On Wi-Fi and on cellular (5G/4G).

I have the latest available iOS.

I'm hoping someone is aware of the same problems and/or has solutions.

Hi MichaelGirshberg,

You mentioned this was happening on the latest iOS, are there any updates available for those apps specifically? Needing an update can cause unexpected issues with our apps.

To update your apps:

  1. Launch the App Store
  2. Tap on your profile picture in the top right
  3. Scroll down to see available updates
  4. Tap update or update all

Check out: How to manually update apps on your Apple device - Apple Support

If this continues after installing any updates, you'll want to reach out to the app developer for further assistance. You can reach out to them by following the steps here: How to contact an app developer - Apple Support

Hope that helps!

Hello MichaelGirshberg,

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities. We're happy to look into this with you. To start, try the actions provided from article, If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open - Apple Support, to assist with the issues you're experiencing from the apps you listed as they are the best recommended actions to perform.

It sounds like you are having issues with connectivity on your iPhone. Have you confirmed that your Wi-Fi router and access points are set up using Apple recommended settings? If you're not sure, please review, Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points - Apple Support for complete details.

Let us know how it goes after reviewing those network settings and if additional help is needed, we'll be happy to continue researching possible solutions.

Best regards.
