Fix the Apple Watch sound not working randomly until reboot!

This happens to me almost every other week now with my Apple Watch 8.

It has made trusting it for my wake up alarm completely unreliable.

Same thread from over a year ago and still no FIX. Happens across major editions of the watch.

Apple Watch 7 No sound from watch speaker - Apple Community

Rebooting the watch is NOT an acceptable fix. I've done that and had it work for weeks again - or not even for a full day again.

It isn't just sound - its also haptic disappears and stops working because the watch stops vibrating for alarm also.

And it isn't just the alarm settings. Workout starting 3-2-1 dings disappear, etc. Checked all settings. The watch thinks it's making audio and its not.

It's killed my ability to use alarms on the phone entirely since you can never reliably trust the $@#@@ thing.

Hey there JohnInWI,

It sounds like you have been having some issues with the audio alerts on your Apple Watch. If you have not already done the following steps, we would recommend doing them now. They will help isolate and troubleshoot the issue, and may resolve things for you:

  1. Make sure you have the latest version of iOS on your companion iPhone: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support. This will give your Apple Watch access to the latest watchOS version, which we recommend that you also install: Update your Apple Watch - Apple Support
  2. If using the Sleep Schedule be sure the option for "Turn off Wake Up Alarm" isn't on using the "Turn off only your next scheduled wake up alarm" section from the article here: Turn off alarms and delete sleep schedules in Health on iPhone. If this is on, it will turn off the next alarm.
  3. Check to make sure you do not have a Focus set on any other device you use with the same Apple ID as your watch. Focus can share across devices using iCloud, so it may be that another device is silencing the alarm: Use Focus on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

If you've done the above recommendations and still experience issues with the audio on your Apple Watch, we would recommend reaching out to Apple Support directly. They will have access to additional tools and resources that will help further assist. You can contact them here: Get Support.
