Why is my software update slow

You need about 6 GB device storage and good Service & Wi-Fi.

If they are On, turn Off Hotspot & VPN.

Charge the battery > 70%.

From the information that you have provided, my best guess is that you do not have full signal on your wi-fi which is probably what is leading to it. Run an app like Speedtest to check your download speeds for the wi-fi and see what that tells you about your internet.
