Mac Mail attachments downloading super slow

I'm using google accounts on my MBP with Mac mail. My internet connection is reasonably fast but for some reason attachments sent to me by mail always take forever to download. Is there anything I can do to speed things up?

Mail not including attachments For the past year, about half of the time, when I include an attachment (usually a PDF or JPG under 4MB) to an email, the recipient says that there's nothing attached. How can I get attachments to attach? I've tried attaching by going to the File menu and clicking "Attach Files...", I've tried using the little paper clip icon in the tool bar, and I've dragged and dropped files on my email. I'm using Mail 16.0 with Ventura, on a 16" 2021 MacBook Pro.

Apple Mail - 'remove attachments' is greyed out I'm using Apple Mail (16.0) on a MacBook Air (M1) running Ventura 13.6. The option to 'remove attachments' under Message in Mail is permanently greyed out and trying to delete attachments results in the email being deleted. I sometimes get emails with quite large graphic attachments and purely to save space I would like to delete the attachment but retain the email. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? Thanks in advance.
