iPhone Maps Calls my Toyota Navigation System each time it gives an update on driving directions

I am on iOS 16.0.2 (20A380) using XS Max and this morning for the first time the Apple Maps navigation appears to be calling my Toyota Navigation system each time it gives an update on the direction I'm travelling. The last time I used the iPhone navigation in my car was on 10/31 and I did not have this problem. My phone was plugged in, the source was Sirius, not the radio and not the phone.

I've powered off and on the phone without any change. I know a new iOS version is now out, but I normally wait a few weeks for any kinks to be worked out before installing. Any easy way around this annoying bug, short of trying the next update?
