External monitor cannot run 60hz with mac m1

So I recently moved my 4k 60hz monitor from my main windows PC to my mac m1 laptop. Apon connecting the monitor, I noticed the hz dropped to 30hz. Before, I had connected my monitor to the GPU of my PC, but now I'm connecting it through a USB hub to my mac m1. System preferences does not show more than 30 hz. Is there any way I could change it to 60hz?

Thank you!

Check the spec on the USB hub!! Many USB hubs will only support 30Hz at 4K.

If that is the case (likely), you will need to connect the display directly to the MacBook Air using a certified USB-C to HDMI or USB-C to DisplayPort cable or adapter. Personally, I use this one:

The cable is HDMI certified for 4K displays.
