Happens once in a while. Restarting seem to help for a bit but it eventually comes back. Tried resetting and restoring but no luck. Today I updated my 14 PRO MAX to 16.1.1 and it was fine until a moment ago when I noticed the problem came back. And the worst thing is that I have taken the cell phone to apple and I have spoken a thousand times with support and the solution they give me is to wait for the next update 😭

Some background that might shed light on the issue: When you go back to the Home screen the currently running app gets a “suspend” signal, but is allowed to finish what it was doing (which is usually just saving its state to storage). If it was communicating with a device, however, it might take a little time to complete that process. Is this happening with one specific app, or several or all apps? If it’s one app it could be a bug in the app.
Thank you for your response, I currently have an open case with apple engineering and the problem seems to be poor RAM management by IOS 16 and for some reason it affects some iPhone 14 pro max, it only remains to wait for them to identify the error and fix it in a future update.
Thanks for the report. That’s a believable answer from Apple, although I’m a little surprised because I’ve believed Apple software engineers had mastered virtual memory management years ago. 😉
The bug disappears with iOS 16.2 for the moment.
