Wacom tablets on Ventura?? Other tablets?

MacBook Air M1 (2020)

macOS 13.1

Wacom CTL 4100M (new)

Wacom Driver:   WacomTablet_6.4.0-6.dmg

After installation and reboot, Wacom Center spins, “Waiting for synchronization”, and then reports:  “The tablet driver is not responding.”  This always happens.

Connection is through the Wacom USB cable, plugged directly into the computer via a USB A to C adapter.

All of the items inside WacomTablet_6.4.0-6.dmg were installed in the proper locations. (I checked.)

System Information / USB reports that the USB 3.1 Bus is connected to “Intuos BT S”.

System Settings/Privacy and Security/privacy/Accessibility - - -  “com.wacom.IOManager” is set ON

System Settings/Privacy and Security/privacy/Automation/Wacom Tablet Utility - - - “System Settings” is set ON

Bluetooth connects, but I can’t do anything with it without the driver.

? Do any other brands of pen tablets work with Ventura?

Hi MyronL,

For help with third party tablets and installing drivers check out the links from the manufacturer below.

Why is my tablet not working on Mac OS?

Is there a driver for macOS 13, Ventura?

If the issue continues, you can test installing in safe mode. Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support

Reach out to the manufacturer directly if you continue to have a problem with installing the driver.

Contact a third-party vendor - Apple Support

Cheers.

Have you confirmed that the Wacom software & driver are actually compatible with Ventura? Even the latest v13.0.1 update?

There is a good chance that the macOS security settings for Gatekeeper did not allow the driver to be activated. This was always problematic even with older versions of macOS for any software (especially ones which included drivers), but with Ventura and all the changes to the new Settings app, I'm not sure how you go about trying to authorize a third party in Ventura. After rebooting and trying to run the Wacom software, check the "Security" section of the "Security & Privacy" Settings app to see if there is a notice or an option to allow the Wacom driver access. When an app or driver was blocked, macOS used to show a button to "Allow" the app/driver to be approved in the "Security" tab of the older "Security & Privacy" System Preferences (or it was supposed to do so, in practice many time this "Allow" button never appeared). You should check the Settings app immediately after booting, then immediately after trying to run the Wacom software since there is a timer on that button so it can disappear after a while.

You may need to contact Wacom support for assistance.
