What happened to Pages "Learn Spelling" function?

Pages "learn spelling" worked until two weeks ago (~10/17/22) on iPad Air 3rd Gen, Vers. 15.7.1. Then no longer activates, no matter which keys/commands used. Updated Pages to 12.2 and still no option or pop-up. Tried all types of fixes, workarounds, including restricting to one language and keyboard (English, US, then tried GB). Used to work with 5 or 6 languages loaded. VERY USEFUL FUNCTION. PLEASE FIX! Also now seeing same issue with Pages on Mac (Monterey 12.6.1). Pages was excellent before. Now a big pain. DICTIONARY(-ies) MUST BE ABLE TO BE UPDATED.

Sent to Apple. Anyone else with this issue?

Thanks for replying, but the issue is with Version 12.2 of Pages, running on iPadOS 15.7.1. Earlier version of Pages did work. (Followup: iMac issue appears to have been transient. Right-clicking on a magic mouse does bring up the iMac option similar to above). The above menu doesn't come up for iPad. "Predictive" function can help with spelling suggestions for words already in dictionary. But adding a word to the iPad dictionary is the problem. Clicking "Replace" or control-cmd clicking (or any other suggested keystroke commands) on the word do not lead to the "Learn Spelling" option. Originally (i.e., prior to two weeks ago), clicking on the word brought up the pop-up. There are workarounds, but they aren't as fast, efficient, or clean as before. Note, having been working on a series of manuscripts since 2018 on my iPad, and use Pages a LOT. Ergo, unanticipated changes that degrade a function aren't helpful! But, thanks again for the suggestion!

This is a Pages for Mac community and posting here about Pages on iOS or iPadOS should, in fact, be posted to iWork for iOS - Apple Community. As you have already discovered with Barry's well-intentioned post, we are wired to respond with Pages on macOS solutions here, and many of us do not have an iPad to further investigate your Pages on iPadOS issue.

Me too on an iPad Mini 4, happened when Pages upgraded to 12.2, the unrecognised spelling (error/new word) is underlined but whereas previously a tap on the word would bring up possible alternatives, all that happens now is an option to Replace which when selected does nothing. Someone forgot to check this out in new version.

As you say this was really useful, needs a quick update.

A very good point. Interestingly, as this was my first post (got aggravated enough to do so), I left it for iMac when trying to get to right place for iPad (my particular config./model wasn't one-to-one in the list of options) and the issue had just popped up on my iMac as well (see resolution comment above). Thanks for noting that iWork is the place. BUT that's not terribly intuitive. Another suggestion for Apple: Put a direct, iPad-only path in the selection menu. Not iPhone, just iPad. I have many Apple devices, each dedicated to specific tasks/functions/etc. Wading through what is not helpful or directly related, wastes time and is inefficient. Will try to replicate under iWork (if a double-entry is allowed). Cheers to all.

Follow up: Tried to post this to the iPad side, but no luck. Which brought up another interesting point. Trying to find a post on the iPad side was difficult. Used the same starting question as above, but only get this one—even if specifically indicate "iPad" applicability. Just another annoying search limitation or convolution. Which is why I haven't posted before. Trying to find answers is sometimes very obtuse. We shouldn't have to use outside or third-party searches to find direct paths to issues and succinct answers. Hopefully the "Learn Spelling" function will be put back in—at least as a patch for now. See the iPad threads for the volume of replies about this issue "update". Happy reading and thanks for the replies.

Did repost to iWork... side, several days ago, as noted in that repost. I use multiple types of Apple devices. Sometimes issues appear across all—sometimes transient, sometimes not. Already submitted issue to Feedback. Note, their form defaulted to the Mac side, since am using iMac (not iPad) to manage such communications

FYI to all interested/concerned, the Feedback form doesn't have Pages 12.2 listed for either iPad or iMac—only 12.1. Mentioned this fact both times Feedback was submitted. Again, need better: Feedback loops, preset selection check boxes/alternatives, paths, search parameters, current versions, etc. Side note: Used to design these types of forms for complex engineering functions, so I get it!
