Series 8 pausing during workouts

Apple Watch series 8 keeps pausing during workouts. I’ve tried switch out bands, making sure they are snug, toggling the auto-pause option, hard resetting it, and even took it to the Apple Store and exchanged it for a new one but I’m having the same problem. Is anyone else having this issue? Apple- is there going to be a software update for this? It renders my watch virtually useless as I bought it for workout tracking.
