iMessage

So I’ve been texting friends and family and I noticed just today in the afternoon that, my iMessage would just take a long time to deliver and freeze and if I were to close the app and open it up again, the screen would just be black. Has anyone been through this?

iMessage app consistently turning black when I click on iMessages all I get is a black screen. After restarting my phone I am able to open messages and receive notifications again, however the issue quickly persists usually after 20-30 minutes. I have tried a force restart, turning off and on imessages, and updating my device, none of which have helped.
