HomePod Mini and Wi-Fi

Can I use HomePod Mini just for music and voice-controlling HomeKit devices, while I’m at my spot if I don’t have Wi-Fi at home?

Once set up and configured it is potentially possible to use HomePod for peer to peer AirPlay without any other active Wi-Fi, but for controlling accessories, Siri, native music playback and so on, the HomePod needs to be connected to Wi-Fi, which is connected to the Internet.
