Connecting Macbook Air 2017 to Monitor

What is the best way to connect my 2017 Macbook Air to a monitor? The monitor has a DisplayPort cable and HDMI. This laptop does not have an HDMI port and, as I learned recently, Mac USB 3 is not compatible with HDMI converters. Any advice would be appreciated.
