How do I turn off find my iPhone feature from a different device?

How do I turn OFF the ‘find my iPhone’ feature from a different device? My iPhone is broken and I must send it in to Verizon to get a credit for it towards a new purchase. I will not get credit unless the ‘find my iPhone’ feature is turned off on the iPhone with the broken screen. PLEASE HELP.
