My wife sometimes does not receive my text messages

Doesn't matter if I send from my iPhone or my Mac, she doesn't receive the messages until she sends one to me first and I reply to that.

I think this could possibly be related to the fact that I have her Apple ID email address stored in her contact information and it's somehow using iCloud instead of SMS? I also have her contact information in Outlook and Google, so she's a linked contact.

Naturally, I wouldn't block my wife :)

I am using an iPhone 13 Pro Max and she is using an iPhone 11 Pro Max and also her iMac M1 (messages are not received on either device).

Greetings jednano,

Having your wife's Apple ID stored to her contact card wouldn't interfere with the ability to send messages to her. To confirm, are having issues with iMessages not being received on her device or are you only using SMS text messages? For either issue, you'll want to complete the steps listed below on both your device and your wife's device. While these steps are specific to iPhone, resolving the issue on iPhone may help with resolving the issue on the Mac. You can also find these steps outlined in the following article.

"Update your device to the latest version of iOS or iPadOS if needed.
In the Settings app, tap Cellular. Make sure that your phone line is turned on. If you use multiple SIMs, make sure that the phone number you want to use is selected and turned on.
In the Settings app, tap Messages. Turn iMessage off and then back on.
Tap Send & Receive.
Tap the phone number that you want to use with Messages."

If you can't send or receive messages on your iPhone or iPad

While you may be able to send and receive messages from other contacts, these steps are crucial in reaching a resolution.
