Spotlight behavior different in Ventura

Up until now, when I needed to launch an app, I would open Spotlight, type the app name, and then hit return, and it would open the app for me.


Now, in Ventura, it just displays the 'top hit' (which is often the app I want to open), and hitting enter does nothing. I have to take the mouse and click on the app name to open it. If I wanted to do that, I may just as well have it in my dock full-time.


Is there a way to easily restore the pre-Ventura behavior of Spotlight in regards to launching apps?

Hi Dave Dahle,


Seems a good idea to check Spotlight's settings ... ie: they may now be the default settings.


Eg: Scroll to: "Check settings in Siri & Spotlight settings in the article below:

If searching your Mac returns unexpected results – Apple Support


And

Change Siri & Spotlight settings on Mac – Apple Support


Else:

You might want to send feedback to Apple:

They will likely not reply, yet if others are also sending feedback on this issue, we may see changes in an upcoming update.
