Re: I purchased a macbook pro 16 inch M1 Max chip and on tech specification shows as M1 pro chip

I purchased a MacBook pro-16-inch M1 with a Max chip. On the tech specification link after entering the serial number it shows as 16 inches with an M1 pro chip, so I consulted with tech support. The guided mac book pro only comes with an m1 pro chip this is by default and if I have asked for an m1 max chip then this is only customizable but by default, we do not get such configurations, would you please clarify if this is true? I purchased this machine a day ago, which is concerning to me as the apple store has charged me for an M1 max chip.

Appreciate your support.

I have attached an image below of the tech specs it shows with the serial number.

Thanks

Apple is not here on these forums. We are just other regular users such as yourself.

Click on the Apple menu and select "About This Mac" to see the configuration of your laptop. It should also have more information in the System Profiler, link can be found on the "About This Mac" window.

You have 14 days to return the laptop for any reason, but if there is a discrepancy in configuration, then I would recommend taking the laptop to the Apple Store to have it exchanged or refunded to minimize any issues if you were overcharged for the laptop.

You can try contacting Apple Support directly by clicking the "Get Support" link at the top right of this page. I know if it happened to me, that I would want to do it face to face at an Apple Store only because of the over charge & misconfiguration. Who knows how Apple will see things if they receive the laptop back any other way, but that is me being extra paranoid as I don't trust large corporations these days.
