I take written notes on my iPad for work with my Apple Pencil. Today I was notified of not having enough storage and it seems notes is using 200Gb! I have 8-10 pictures that I repeatedly erase and write over but other than that I have a couple notes with pictures and dozens with text only. It shouldn't be taking that much room. How do I rectify this?

This question has been asked over and over again for ages and Apple Help just links people to the info page on storage if they respond at all. It's been years, they obviously don't care. It's a bug. My son's iPad has 26 notes that are purely text, Recently Deleted is clear and Note's data is at 2.9GB which means he has run out of space as there's not much else he can delete. I'm going to find a replacement app for him and delete Notes completely.

Actually, all the data is sync'd with my iPhone and it only reports 1.9Gb being taken up by Notes. Why the difference?
