Refund Denied

I downloaded an app that was advertised as a puzzle game (even the thumbnail is about the puzzles) and when I opened it, turned out to have a castle building element. Slightly annoyed, I grinned and beared the castle part in order play the puzzles. Eventually they were locked behind "castle levels" so I decided to make some in-app purchases to expedite the levels and get back to the puzzles. A couple days later I find out this app is actually a player-versus-player war game (would have been useful info in a tutorial) and people stole part of the purchases I made. Ridiculous!!

I contacted Apple support about starting a refund request. I told them the story and they agreed with me over the phone about my case. I submitted the request as they advised and the first time around, there was no option for an explanation. After my requests were denied that first time, I was then able to provide a reason as to why I wanted them in the first place. I provided the reason and it got approved but it was only for one of the requests...? I contacted Apple Support again and they reassured me everything is fine, I just have to provide a reason for every individual purchase. So I did, and I even included the transaction number of the refunded purchase. Denied. I called again, they said they cannot do anything about it because it was denied a second time. The supervisor I spoke to showed zero sympathy for the situation and was disrespectful. Why were my conversations with Apple Support so reassuring if this is how the situation played out? I was calling to make sure we avoid exactly this.

I know I am not the only one because others on here have had problems with their kids making purchases around $1000 and not only being denied a refund, but also being denied a reason for the decision. Extremely disappointed in Apple for this. Did not expect it.

MY QUESTION: Do I have to go through my bank or is there someone I can speak to at Apple to fix this problem?

Do I have to go through my bank

Be aware that if you have your bank do a chargeback, Apple will consider that you have defaulted on a payment and will freeze your account. You will no longer be able to use it.
