Ecosia is an option in lots of popular browsers, and if Apple have the confidence to put the link in Safari I wouldn't be worried.

I'd be more concerned at Google than any other search engine, given that its purpose is advertising rather than helping with information, but that's another conversation.

Ecosia is one of five search engines you can select to use in a search in the address bar. To see the other options and change it use Safari Preferences > Search > Search Engine - then make your choice.
