System Update Wiped Out Passwords

Last night my new system did an update. Currently 12.6.1.

Now all my cryptic mac-generated web passwords have disappeared.

Is this recoverable?

Hello Big-Jim-Slade,

Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities about missing passwords.

Please verify you are in your normal admin account. Go to System Preferences > Users. Verify your main Admin account is the one you are currently in.

If you are not in your main admin account, log out and log back in to the right account.

If you already are in your main admin account, check if they are still here: How to find saved passwords and passkeys on your Mac - Apple Support

Thanks.

I am also seeing this on one of our computers. It started after the update to 12.6.1. So far it has only affected our kid's non-admin, non-iCloud-synced account. All passwords go missing from the Local Items of KeyChain Access and from the Safari Password list. We can resolve it (temporarily) by logging out and logging back in. When we do this the passwords re-appear in KeyChain and Safari. This has occurred a couple of times now since upgrading. It is a relief to have the passwords come back after logging out and back in, but it is sure an uncomfortable feeling when they disappear!

Big-Jim-Slade, have you tried logging out and back in?
