After 9.1 update series 7 watch MUSIC transfer doesn't work

I have factory reset the watch. I have signed out of Music app and back in on the iphone (se 3rd) and the watch.

It will not "add music" in the watch app. Eternal "Waiting to Download......"x" will download soon".

The watch has albums downloaded to it (that play without connection) that are not shown in the "playlists and albums" section of Music in the Watch app.

What is going on?

No, not helpful. Your generic, basic reply does nothing towards resolving this issue and just creates more zero-content fluff on the internet.

Hello and thanks for getting back to us. It's never mentioned, can you let us know if the music you have is part of Apple Music subscription, purchased music or music you ripped from CDs?

If you're doing the steps listed in this article, are you making sure that your iPhone and watch are within range, Bluetooth is on and the watch is on its charger? Listen to music and podcasts on your Apple Watch - Apple Support

"How to sync music to your Apple Watch

  1. Set your Apple Watch on its charger. Make sure that it's charging and that your iPhone is within range of your watch.
  2. On your iPhone, open the Settings app, then tap Bluetooth. Make sure that Bluetooth is turned on.
  3. On your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app, then tap the My Watch tab.
  4. Scroll to Music and tap it.
  5. Tap Add Music, then find the song or album that you want to sync.
  6. Tap the Add button  next to the music that you want to sync. If you can't add specific albums or playlists, try downloading them to your iPhone before you sync with your watch"

You've mentioned that there are albums already on the watch, how much storage space do you have available? Keep in mind depending on the total storage you have on the watch determines how much media storage you have available for songs. For example, if you have 32gigs of storage, then you'll have 8gigs available for media storage which includes photos.

After pairing the watch, did you restore any information? How about photos? Do you have any stored? Choose a photo album and manage storage on Apple Watch - Apple Support

"Limit photo storage on Apple Watch

The number of photos stored on your Apple Watch depends on available space. To save space for songs or other content, you can limit the number of photos stored on it."

Make sure that wireless interference isn't causing an issue: Resolve Wi-Fi and Bluetooth issues caused by wireless interference - Apple Support If you have any cases, remove the case and see if that works.

If you're still unable to get songs over to your Apple Watch and none of the steps here have been helpful, contact Apple Support.

Best regards.

Hi,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! If you're adding music using your iPhone, you'll want to as noted in following guide:

"In watchOS 9.1, music is added when Apple Watch is placed near your iPhone. In earlier versions of watchOS, your Apple Watch must also be connected to power."

Add music to Apple Watch

Hope this helps!

Have a great day.

Thank you for your response.

Spent a ton of time on this. I went through the process of resetting the watch to factory default.

I was able to download music using the watch itself by "Downloading" from my Library. Takes forever to do it that way.

I tried turning on "Automatically Add New Music", but I still couldn't add music using the iPhone (just got a spinning circle that wouldn't stop). And, unlike before where all albums on my watch showed up in the iPhone Watch app "Music" tab, none of the albums that are on the watch appear now.

Yeah, I don't get it. I get inconsistencies between what's shown on the phone app and on the watch, too.

I've tried to talk to apple support about it, but they were useless. Same low level replies as above, "is the watch next to the phone? is the watch powered on?" come on! I made an appointment to the stupid "genius" bar, and they were just as bad. Apple support is just plain awful.

I am the point now where I have no choice but to accept the bugs and hope they are resolved in the next firmware release.
