My apple watch has stopped syncing music with my iPhone. It won't update playlists. It won't update play counts. I've tried restarting. I've tried re-pairing. Very annoying. I like my apple watch to go running with, which is primarily why I bought it. But without being able to sync music, it's a pretty poor running watch.

10.4 really screwed up my watch. Huge battery drain, then would not complete the update. Had to un-pair and re-pair with my phone. Would not restore from backup. Had to do “new” install. Now music won’t sync, and “now playing” shows up constantly and won’t turn off.

Same for me. I use it to run and I never had this issue with the 5 series apple watch. I upgraded to the 8 because of the usual apple charging bs. I'm using the iphone 13 pro that I've had for less than two years. A couple weeks ago something popped up on my phone saying my camera may not be an authentic apple product!?¿... I replaced my iphone 11 pro because it was popping up an"unable to download" (even though I wasn't downloading anything!)message every day that I couldn't get rid of, after less than two years of use...I am really starting to see that their products are designed with planned obsolescence so frustration leads to faster replacement. Sorry I know this isn't exactly helpful.
I unpaired and re-paired the watch yesterday, then reset my phone & only after that did my itunes finally update on the watch. I noticed the settings in my watch had "add playlists songs" toggled off. I turned it on and have to turn it on daily because it seems to turn itself off.

Same. I bought this thing specifically to sync music to it and to get it to work it seems you have to try a Hodge dodge of things like turning Bluetooth and WiFi on an off and restarting the watch or phone. Serious Bug in the OS.
So a day after having my comment deleted suggesting 10.6....10.6 became general availability and the first attempt to sync an album worked without having to try one million steps. So it looks like it may be fixed. What's annoying is that beta FW can be discussed even though it may fix the actual problem. 😒 10.6 isn't beta anymore. So I expect my comment to Stay this time.
Did you already try to remove the music that is present on the watch, restart the watch and the iPhone and try again to sync?
I sure did. It'll update once, but won't keep it updated. The only way I can add new music to the watch is to unpair and repair the watch.
Mine is doing the same thing right now and I can't get it to update anything.
This occasionally works. It's a pretty complicated dance, and I'm never sure of the exact sequence to follow to make it work.
Same problem to me, since I’ve updated to 10.4 I can’t sync music.
Thought I would follow up on this. Most recent updates appear to have fixed the problem.

Actually the problem comes and goes, quite mysteriously... any clues on what we can do (intentionally) to unclog the sync pipes?
