Ventura, unable to copy applications

for several MacOS releases now, I have been copying system apps, so that I can configure my own icons.

I usually copy the following system apps:

safari, calc, notes, mail.

Once copied and pasted in to applications folder, I can then modify the icon to my own.

On Ventura, I am unable to do this. I can run the copy function, but the paste option is greyed out.

has anyone worked around this?

Mac mini, macOS 13.0

Well if this is an issue for you then—submit your Apple Feedback here: Product Feedback - Apple

The macOS is continuing to lock down System file r/w access.... the trend continues with macOS Ventura.

since operating system files as of macOS Catalina are on a cryptographically secure read-only disk image.
