device cannot receive apple id verification codes

how do i fix that? i signed into my apple id and even changed the password twice and it still gives me an authentication error every time.

Is your Mac listed as a trusted device on your account? The reason we ask is due to the information provided in article: Two-factor authentication for Apple ID - Apple Support


With two-factor authentication, a trusted device or trusted phone number helps verify your identity when you sign in to a new device or browser.

A trusted device is an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple Watch, or Mac that you've already signed in to using two-factor authentication. It's a device that we know is yours and that can be used to verify your identity by displaying a verification code from Apple when you sign in on a different device or browser.


If you haven't checked, use the actions provided in Check your Apple ID device list to see where you're signed in - Apple Support to confirm your trusted device and phone number.
