Microsoft 365 files to new 2022 MacBook Air word processing

I have been using Microsoft 365 with 2012 MacBookAir, macOS Catalina. I'm now retired and about to purchase a new MacBook Air. What can I expect of the MacBook Air's word processing system. The word files stored on the 2012 MacBook will be available ... but will they work well in the Mac Book word processing system?

Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks.

The Mac does not on its own have a word processing system. Like your 2012 Mac, you can of course install Office 365 and continue to user your files on it like you have been doing.

You can also choose to install Apple's Pages or a number of free alternatives like Libre Office or Open Office.

In short, the word processing system is whatever you install on it.
