Have an iPad mini six with cellular data. I want to add that the phone number and have it recognized by FaceTime. When I add the number it wants to verify it but there is no way to do that. Any help would be appreciated

You cannot add a number to an iPad on it own. You need an iPhone this is using the same Apple ID as the iPad. Link-> Make and receive phone calls on Mac or iPad - Apple Support
The number assigned to the cellular service plan on an iPad is only used for billing purposes. The iPad cannot use it to send or receive messages or make or receive FaceTime calls.
