Camera not dectected in third party apps for Intel based Mac
After upgrading to Ventura on a MacBook Pro Intel i9, I am running into an issue with a couple people that the camera is not being detected in third party programs such as Slack, WebEx and Chrome
The camera works fine in Safari and Facetime and when loading pages like Google Meet, Zoom etc, the camera works, but when loading the same pages in Chrome, nothing
We've tried a variety of troubleshooting other than erase and install of the entire OS
- PRAM and SMC resets
- Reinstall the software
- Clearing the user library files in Application Support and Preferences for third party apps
- Re-doing the sharing of permissions in System Settings, and confirming that Privacy/Security and Camera is enabled for everything
- Checking Screentime settings
- Trying to kill the VDC assistant via sudo killall VDCAssistant
- Booting to safe mode
- Using recovery mode to install on top of the OS
- All software is up to date and no available updates
Does anyone have any other ideas or run into this as well? I would prefer not to erase if possible for myself and others but I'm at a loss for next steps
