Export emails with attachements to new Mac

Has anyone found a solution for this? I recently purchased a new MacBook. I am trying to export a mailbox to my new computer. I no longer have access to the original server so the messages are just stored on my old Mac. Export mailbox only exports a fraction of the emails. It seems the problem lies with emails that have attachements not being exported. I have also tried the drag and drop trick but no files actually get dropped over into the finder folder. I appreciate any help possible.

Hello applefangirl,

Have you tried using Time Machine to transfer your data to the new Mac? Move content to a new Mac outlines the available options for transferring data, and using a Time Machine backup is generally considered to be the fastest method. Back up your Mac with Time Machine covers how to create a Time Machine backup to an external drive and is useful to safeguard your data against unexpected loss.

Regards.

Hey applefangirl,

What happened when you tried both Migration Assistant and Time Machine? Did you see the behavior you mentioned where the messages with attachments didn't get moved when using those functions, or did something else happen? Please include any specifics that you can, as the more information you can provide, the better equipped members of the community will be to assist.

Take care.
