iPod Nano not displaying information in Finder.

The screen that displays "your iPod name" does not appear in my Finder window. It's blank. However, I can see the music that's stored on my iPod via the Music app. Running os 12.6.

iPod Nano stuck 'loading' in Finder for Ventura 13.3.1 I have an 2017 iMac Ventura 13.3.1, Music 1.3.4.56, a 4th Gen iPod Nano (model MB754LL). My goal is to put some music on the iPod to play it in my car (which lacks Bluetooth). Initially, the iPod did not appeared in Finder's sidebar (even after: restarting it & the iMac; toggling sidebar contents in Finder's Settings; and Restoring the iPod using Disk Utility). I did successfully Erase the iPod using Disk Utility (Mac OS Extended Journaled format). Now the iPod's Disk partition appears in Finder (yeah!), but when I click the the iPod's other 'Music' partition*, Finder gets stuck showing "Software: Loading..." and nothing ever happens. It never successfully loads the iPod data (such as the General, Music, ... and other tabs, nor the Restore or Sync buttons.) Any suggestions how to get the iPod to fully load in Finder? Or maybe there's a workaround to put music into a specific folder in the (working) Disk partition and have it work anew? [I'm not sure how to think of what's going on inside the iPod. Maybe the iPod 'OS' piece isn't restored by Disk Util and it needs to be re-loaded somehow. But I'm likely wrong about what's going on. Ignorance is bliss. But only sometimes.] * I'm not sure what to call the two entries from a single iPod that appear in Finder's sidebar. I always think of them as the Disk part and the Music part (since I only use Music media in my many old iPods).

finder does not sync my iPod. iOS ventura. the iPod is shown in the locations list when connected by a usb cable, but nothing else. Finder does not sync the iPod when connected by USB cable. The iPod is listed in the locations sections, but no action or options are available. I am trying to sync some audiobooks from the books app to the iPod.

Can't access music iPod 4th gen on macOS 15.4 I can't access music on a iPod 4th gen 20GB on my Mac running macOS 15.4. Symptoms are: iPod is mounted and shows on the Desktop – as normal. Double-click the iPod disk icon opens a Finder window – as normal. As normal, iPod appears twice in the window sidebar – both have an eject button when selected, the bottom item shows three folders: Calendars, Contacts, Notes – as normal. when selecting the upper item, the window a rotating busy symbol but, after a minute or two shows “The selected device could not be found.”. The iPod also appears in sidebar of the Apple Music app and when selected, following a delay of a minute or so also shows “The selected device could not be found.”. Have tried the iPod in a different user account with the same result. Then, tried the iPod on a MacBook Air running macOS Monterey 12.7.6. Success. The Finder window used to manage storage on the iPod appeared immediately. Makes me think there's a bug in macOS 15.4. Had no problems back in February. Can't think of a reason why iPod cannot be accessed on the Mac now and yet can be accessed on the MacBook. Has anyone else seen this ?

If you haven't yet, we'd recommend performing a simple restart of your Mac using the Apple menu > Restart. Restarting can often solve simple issues.

We'd avoid using VPNs or security software on the Mac, which can cause issues connecting devices: Check VPN (Virtual Private Network) and third-party software to help resolve network connectivity issues - Apple Support

What happens when you boot to safe mode and try connecting the iPod Nano? Safe mode prevents some processes from working that may be blocking the ability for the iPod Nano to show up. Learn how to boot to test this further using steps in: How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

Depending on your results in safe mode, we'd recommend using sections, 'If the issue continues in safe mode' and 'If the issue doesn't continue in safe mode' to solve the issue.
