Proximity sensor issues

I have purchased a brand new iphone 14 pro max and recently and having issues with the proximity sensor when using messenger apps such as whatsapp, telegram, instagram and wechat. The main issue is that the screen just won't go off when I place the phone to my ear when I want to listen to voice messages. However, it's functioning normally when I make a phone call. Who's having the same problem?
