bad sound quality from itunes on a PC

I have my Airpods (2nd generation) connected to my work PC. Works great for Teams calls, etc. However, the sound quality from iTunes on the PC is horrible. Am I missing a setting somewhere?

Switching audio output on apple music for windows When ever I change the output device on windows from wired headphones to wired speakers apple music doesn't update the output device. Noise between Apple Music tracks from iTunes I am streaming music I downloaded from iTunes via Apple music from a Macbook pro (Big Sur 11.7.7) to a Sony receiver through Bluetooth. Every time the track changes there is a burst of noise through the speakers. This does not happen when I play music from my iPhone.

I should clarify that the sound from itunes is great through my external speakers.... and the AirPod Pros work great in all other apps, etc on the PC except itunes. I'm thinking its an itunes issue but can't figure out what it is.
