Arrow keys not working (in messages only) after Monterey update (v12.6)

I can no longer scroll up or down (using the arrow keys) inside the messages app on my MacBook Pro 2019 after upgrading to Monterey 12.6. The Arrow keys still work fine every where else. (i.e. Browser, Notes, text editor etc) When I open the on screen keyboard and press the arrow keys the virtual keys respond normally. I've also tried creating a new user and that didn't work either. Lastly I even booted the MacBook in safe boot and tried, but to no avail. This appears to be a software glitch in Monterey. Any other suggestions?
