I need help with "highlights" in preview.

I often use the preview app on my Mac to revise PDFs for school and usually I didn't have any issues with it, but for the last few weeks the highlight tool is working so bad, every time I try to select text to highlight it makes a huge jump to the last highlighted section, highlighting everything on its way. I am not sure if this is a weird bug or maybe a configuration, but if someone has any ideas could you please let me know? this is getting very annoying.

Does it work correctly on a document you have highlighted in the past?

Depending on the way the document was turned into a PDF, the actual text blocks may not flow as shown by the text. So, it may be highlighting the block you start on, but the next logical text block is at the end.

But, I have seen another post about the same issue. Acrobat Reader would highlight it correctly, but Preview could not, so it may be some bug.
