Small crack under camera

Wondering why the 16” MacBook Pro screen near the camera cracks so easily. I’ve read about this and seems to happen often to many customers. My laptop doesn’t leave my desk. I’ve been extremely careful with it and was shocked to find a tiny crack near my camera one day. When I touched the crack the whole screen went black for good. Shouldn’t Apple cover this? Seems like a defect to me.

Camera covers can cause the screen to crack especially when the lid of the display is closed.
