Microphone isn’t working

When I click on the microphone on my iPhone 12 and talk out a message to send a text an x is in the center of the microphone. It’s not working when I click on microphone and speak out words to text to someone the microphone pops up and has an x in the middle.

iPhone 12 Pro Max, iOS 16

The Voice Message (Microphone) will only get activated for iMessage and not for SMS/MMS.

That means after you type in a Phone number or Apple ID in the "To:" field that has been registered for iMessage (Apple Devices) then the microphone icon will get activated for you to send Voice Messages
